Framing (February--March)

We've just about got the floor joists on in this picture.
Those steel I-beams that continue from the foundation will get wrapped
with 2x8's built into the living room walls.

Here's a view from the master bedroom after the joists are in place. And below, we've started putting down the plywood subfloor. |

One of the nice things about framing is that suddenly the view you took for granted now has a frame around it.
Below we've got about half our exterior walls done on the main floor. |

That's a shot of the house from the ridge just below. You can see the bedroom level beams for the deck, and our temporary beams jutting out to the north on the upper level (that we'll use to do the siding) and the permanent deck beams below the picture windows on the west side of the house.

Another shot of our walls, just before starting the garage
joists.

And another with the plywood down for the garage and entry. This picture was taken March 22. We're ready for the last set of walls, and then on to rafters.
|
We got to have a little fun fitting these exposed glue-lams
in the living/dining/kitchen area.
