| We've started forming the slabs and stairs and placing the landscaping rocks. Sitka founder Frank Boyden (center) and Ran Koch, Sitka director (at extreme right), handpicked the rocks at a quarry in Newport and coordinated the placement. Sounds simple enough -- just get a landscaping crew and a track hoe operator to create a Japanese garden in a sea of mud in the pouring rain. | |

| It's actually beginning to happen. This picture was taken looking at the main Sitka studio with boulders scattered through what will be the outdoor classroom. Now that the rocks are placed, we'll form up the slabs and get the exposed aggregate poured. |
