August — Framing

We've got the basement walls up, backfilled the site and are just about ready to put our floor joists down.

Here we've got the joists down and most of the plywood subfloor ready.

Below, Jim and Rob are working on the circular window in the wall at the head of the stairs.

Here's a view of the wall they were working on, looking in from the screened porch area.
One of the great things about framing is when the windows suddenly create a picture of stuff you've been looking at for days without seeing.

Towards the end of August we brought the crane back to lift the main glue-lam into place over the living room.

The we started the beamwork on the coffered ceiling in the living room.

This was late August — working in the hot sun with beautiful vertical grain fir beams — it doesn't get much better than that.
