We finished the main floor in early May and then started
framing the walls. Here, we're tipping up the rake walls on the north
and south sides of the house. Firs the north side, then the south. |

Once the plywood was one, the walls straightened, braced and squared, we were ready for the posts and beams the rafters sit on.

Once the beams were in place we installed the little wedge blocks the rafters sit on -- rather than cut a birdsmouth in the rafters, the architect had us cut little birdsmouths and glue them to the beams, which are placed so the line up exactly with the bottoms of the rafters. |

And finally, we're ready to life the rafters into
place, which will happen Tuesday, May 29, weather permitting. |
